Seth Pincus

Seth Pincus received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College and an M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. He became certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1983 and holds a medical license for Utah, Montana and Louisiana. He currently works as the Director of the Research Institute for Children at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans. He is a professor in the department of Microbiology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Biological Toxins: The Terrorist Threat

Bacterial and plant toxins are among the most lethal molecules known. People may be exposed to them either as extracted materials or in the form of infectious organisms. The mechanism of action of biological toxins will be reviewed. Difficulties in controlling access to these materials will be discussed. Methods of dissemination will be reviewed. The bioterrorist threat will be put into context of other public health problems.
