Timothy
Axtman is a Project Manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A native of
South Dakota, he graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in
Civil Engineering in 1981. He has worked at the New Orleans District since
1982. During his first ten years of service he was assigned to the Hydrologic
Engineering Section of Engineering Division where he was involved with
hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and the district’s sediment analysis and
monitoring program. He was assigned to the Planning, Programs and Project
Management Division in 1992 and has been involved directly with the Coastal
Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) Program since that
time. He acted as a “Basin Captain” and authored the appendix for the
Mississippi River Delta Basin in the development of the 1993 “Louisiana Coastal
Wetlands Restoration Plan” under CWPPRA. He also managed the Mississippi River
Sediment, Nutrient, & Freshwater Redistribution Study, investigating methods for
the reapplication of riverine resources to coastal wetlands. He currently is a
Project Manager on the Louisiana Coastal Area Ecosystem Restoration Study,
investigating a critical, near-term plan for coastal restoration and further
development and design of restoration alternatives. Mr. Axtman is a registered
professional engineer in the state of Louisiana. |
